Conversations: Part 1

As per my earlier post, I started out taking my portfolio (in print and a proposal for the web redesign) around to design studios in Adelaide, going in with the basic premise of, ‘What am I missing?’ With thanks to Brenton Murray at Brighter and Jason Page from Quisk, I’ve significantly re-evaluated what I need to achieve.

What is ‘Experience’?

Ever since first writing this post almost bang on five years ago, I’ve continued learning and displaying more and more web coding in my sites. I’ve redone bloogum and [Snapshot Henchman], pushing myself with the design and the function for each. The more I learn, the clunkier my portfolio feels, so I’ve begun redesigning that, now, too. I’m now working four days a week, what with the COVID and such, so I’m dedicating my Fridays now to job hunting and redesigning my portfolio.

After years of ‘gunna do’ I signed up for a short course with the beautiful Jess Matthews over at BRICK+MORTAR in Norwood. I’ve always loved the beautiful, easy flow script artists work with, whether the fun and free styles of brush pens or the utterly gorgeous calligraphy, there’s just something about hand-written script that even the most beautifully constructed fonts can’t recreate.
