Anna Thompson

Designing for print is my day job. I've been a graphic designer at a print house in Adelaide since 2010, and prior to that completed my Bachelor of Creative Arts (Digital Media) at Flinders University. Below is a selection of my best showcasing a variety of designs, from brand refreshes of corporate stationery through to brochures and annual reports.

Due to the nature of the job, most design work that comes through my door is ordered by existing companies with at least an existing logo. Photos used are predominantly stock or supplied by the client.

A low-res PDF copy of my design portfolio can be made available upon request.

  • Youth Engagement Program (YEP) DL flyer, A2 poster and A5 flyer

Goolwa Surf Lifesaving Club

To promote the Nippers of the 2015/16 summer, Goolwa SLSC asked to have a brochure designed, providing text and the club logo. Photos have all been sourced from the club of their own Nippers, and from Surf Life Saving Australia.

I've been doing work for them for a few years now, creating recipt books, large format print in banners and A-frames, and expanding to the Youth Engagement Program.

  • Vineyard Nutrition Brochure

Hi-Tech AG Solutions

Hi-Tech AG have been printing with us for a while, mostly large format banners and portable walls for trade shows. They recently needed to add a brochure for the Winetech conference, specifically targeted at the wine industry.

We used a predominantly dark format for the brochure, evoking the nutrient-rich earth the company's fertilisers can create, with the product pages on white both to draw attention and give people at the conference the opportunity to make notes as they talked to the people at the stand.

  • Every Journey Begins with a Step

Salvation Army

The Every Journey Begins with a Step brochure was a particularly special project for the Salvation Army's SA branch. The purpose of the brochure is to promote the various services they offer through telling the very personal stories of a number of their clients, volunteers and workers.

The brochure follows the pictorial journey of the man in the red jumper, taking his first 'step' along the long road to recovery on the front cover, working through his issues through the inside pages, alongside those others who tell their stories throughout, and finding his transformation by the end.

Corporate Clean Property Services

I first started working with Corporate Clean Property Services when they were just a small business, with only a few clients and a handful of employees, but they always had visions of growing.

I've designed numerous pieces of marketing material for their campaigns, including a welcoming card for the cleaners to give new clients, postcards for free Gold Class tickets, corporate stationery, a billboard (on the Anzac Highway railway bridge) and digital screens shown in lifts around Adelaide.

  • 6-panel DL Brochure
  • A4 Introductory Flyer

Universal Clean

Universal Clean is a professional industrial cleaning service who came to me first for a new logo design, in which Jason wanted the logo to have some imagery of the world. I used the bubbles to wash around in the shape of the world, and then carried the style through to the rest of the branding.

  • Food Truck
  • Blue Heaven POSM

Wendys Supa Sundaes

Possibly a bit of a stretch to call it 'print' but this food truck for Wendys on Wheels was my first vehicle wrap. Wendys on Wheels had been to two different design studios and turned down both options before happily going with the design I put forward. The brief required a blank space on the servery side of the truck for the menus to be stuck on. The design needed to attract people from a distance, above crowds of people around the van, using product images on the 'frame' on the roof, then influence them to upsize to the more expensive products with the Mega Shake 'n' Mega Dog prominant.

The point of sale items (including the hanging A2 mobile, Centre Posters and menu boards, all of the same design) for the Blue Heaven were designed a few years ago, before the current rebrand. We were given no product images and so I needed to Photoshop existing product images of the chocolate milkshake and sundae to make it blue.

  • 2014 Annual Report
  • 2015 Annual Report
  • Employer Guide

Construction Benefit Services

Construction Benefit Services is the business name of the Construction Industry Long Service Leave Board. They asked to have their annual report designed in 2014 and again in 2015, with the latter moving more to a digitally-delivered PDF. Only a few were printed for some outgoing board members.

CBS provided their logo, text and data for the graphs. All stock images used in the reports had to look as though they could have been taken in Australia, and peole on construction sites had to abide with occupational health and safety standards (hi-viz vests, helmets and closed shoes).

  • Basic Corporate Stationery
  • Business Cards
  • Presentation Folders and Document Covers

Palladium Wealth Partners

Paladium are financial planners who came to me for a brand refresh, though we decided the logo, with its linking silver rings, didn't need updating. They also wanted to keep their Pantone colours, the blue and silver, so we kept the design slick and simple and easily presented across all their stationery.
